Overview

Ekata, a Mastercard company, is the global standard in identity verification, providing businesses worldwide the ability to link any digital transaction to the human behind it. Our Ekata Identity Network, the first and only of its kind, uses complex machine learning to combine features derived from the billions of transactions within our proprietary network and the data from our graph to deliver industry leading risk assessment solutions.

Graph & Tools team is looking for a Lead Software Engineer who thrives on designing, coding, and maintaining large data processing systems, primarily in the Spark framework using Scala. Our ideal candidate will understand the challenges of working with data at scale and have a firm knowledge of algorithms and processing complexity.

Our team is a mix of software engineers and data analysts working to ensure our inputs, algorithms, and publishing artifacts are of the highest quality and efficiency. Our output is critical to the accuracy of our Risk Analysis APIs which power top e-commerce sites. Constant improvement and innovation are designed into our process. As a Lead Software Engineer for our Graph and Tools Team, you will:

\t• Design and develop our big data processing systems using Apache Spark and related technologies.
\t• Increase the capabilities and efficiency of our data processing pipeline. Investigate problems when they occur and develop solutions.
\t• Has deep understanding of Apache Spark and its internals to continually optimize our computations for runtime and cost efficiency.
\t• Design secure, reliable, high availability, scalable solutions for the Product
\t• Identify technical and process gaps, provide estimates for business solutions, define the initial scope/requirements of the project, and manage the scope during the lifecycle of the project
\t• Insist on the highest coding standards, follow and create best practices for clean code and architecture.
\t• Manage a sense of urgency and risks on project timelines and propose creative strategies for delivering constant business value.
\t• Impact system architecture and improve overall system efficiency with growing business needs.
\t• Participate and contribute to team’s agile process and decisions. Understand and contribute to Prioritization. Drive prioritization decisions and trade-offs in working with product partners
\t• Develop documentation templates, lead and enforce development of documentation throughout the development lifecycle of the solution.
\t• Provide mentorship and hold system overview sessions.
\t• Collaborate with software engineers, test engineers, TPMs, and PM-Ts

Our ideal Lead Software Engineer will have:

\t• Proven experience as a software engineer and executing full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
\t• Has the ability to write secure code in Scala, Python and/or Java
\t• Experience with the Apache Spark ecosystem in a production environment
\t• Experience working with AWS, Databricks, Redis and/or similar platforms
\t• Sound understanding of functional (preferred) or object-oriented programming, data-oriented programming, languages, algorithms, data structures
\t• Ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies, languages, frameworks, tools and support multiple concurrent activities
\t• Self-motivation and ability to deliver on multiple competing priorities with little supervision
\t• Ability to write clean, readable, and maintainable code that follows best practices
\t• Passion for diving deep in data and insights
• Strong communication skills -- both verbal and written, collaboration skills and organizational skills


Total Base Pay Range
159,000.00 - 254,000.00 USD Annual

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
