Lead Software Engineer

Ecolab is providing an exciting opportunity to join our Commercial Digital Solutions team as a Lead Software Engineer. This role will focus on digital technologies & platforms to enable & support our Industrial CDS organization globally. The Lead will be a key member of the technical team, with a focus on extending of platforms to meet business requirements & collaborating with internal & external developer partners to ensure for optimal solution development.  

These software applications are focused on Nalco’s and Ecolab’s businesses for delivering value to our customers through web, mobile and desktop tools. Many of the systems deployed at the customer site are integrated with customers PLC/historian and process control systems. This data is captured in Ecolab/Nalco servers for BI/analytics purposes. The ideal candidate needs to have a broad understanding of all aspects of software development and familiarity with the industrial market space is a plus.

This is a hybrid role based in Naperville, IL.

What You Will Do

Architects, designs, and helps different team members to deliver digital solutions

Develops applications using C#, .NET, JavaScript, and the Microsoft suite of technologies

Engage in hands-on, in-depth analysis, review and design of the software, including technical review and analysis of source code. Will include reviews of in-house developed code, as well as review of technologies provided by 3rd party vendors.

Think strategically and balance short-term needs with longer-term business priorities

Reviews and analyzes business requirements and provide technical feasibility and estimates

Participates in all the Scrum ceremonies: Sprint Planning and Estimation, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews and Sprint Retrospectives

Troubleshoots and resolves issues in a timely fashion, communicating updates as determined until issue is resolved

Works closely with the team to help identify root cause and implements solutions to reduce recurring defects and issues

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of software development experience OR 12 years combined education and equivalent work experience

Five (5) years of experience as a software developer

Experience developing applications using C# in SQL Server

Two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Azure

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated project experience regarding estimates, planning and deliverables with a high degree of accountability

Proven ability working with business, engineering and R&D teams to translate needs to Application Development teams

Three (3) years of experience as a technical lead

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience working in a multi-technology environment is a plus

Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure Applications, Azure Functions and/or Azure Microservices

Experience with Azure Data Factory and/or Azure Data Bricks

Strong knowledge of a variety of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Scrum) and an understanding as to when each of these approaches is most suitable 

Excellent communication skills: presentation, written, and oral

Strong interpersonal skills to successfully partnership with software vendors, outsourcing partners and internal business and IT associates

Must be able to perform as an effective member in a team-oriented environment, maintain a positive attitude, and achieve desired results while working with minimal supervision

Enthusiasm for learning new skills and technologies, and passion for conveying knowledge

Excellent organization skills

Prior experience working with global development teams

Experience in IoT environments

Annual or Hourly Compensation Range

The base salary range for this position is $117,200.00 - $175,800.00. This position is eligible for annual bonus pay based on performance, per plan terms. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
