Lead Software Engineer - Backend Platform

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the COMMERCIAL & INVESTMENT BANK, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

Develop, Implement and maintain security features in backend systems, including authentication, authorization, encryption and access controls Create secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems Collaborate with security teams to integrate security controls into existing infrastructure and application development processes Design APIs with secure data transmission and storage to mitigate potential cybersecurity risks Stay current with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities and trends implementing necessary backend improvements Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies Add to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience  Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development(Java, Go), testing, and operational stability Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages Solid understanding of security protocols and crytography(SSL/TLS, hashing, encryption) Familiarity with authentication and authorization frameworks(OAuth, JWT, SAML and OPA - policy as code) Knowledge of API security, including rate limiting, input validation and token-based authentication Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, DevSecOps and Security Experience with database technologies (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, MongoDB, etc.) and query languages (SQL, NoSQL)  Knowledge of web protocols and standards (HTTP, REST, gRPC etc.) and cloud native technologies such as EnvoyProxy  Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.) 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)  Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Jenkins, GitOps, Terraform, etc.)  Experience with GraphQL
