As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Equity Electronic trading team within the Corporate Investment Bank, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.The Equities technology Team has 1000's of engineers working across a number of challenging business problems. These range from building low latency execution, algorithmic trading, solving complex functions, using AI/ML/NLP to gain insight and execute trades. We always look to use the best tools for the job and you will have the opportunity to work with some of the most experienced colleagues in the industry. We ensure we build resilient and stable systems using cloud technologies and innovative techniques such as chaos engineering. We believe in doing small incremental changes and have in place the tools to ensure we can do continuous deployment in a controlled manner. The role will be based in Athens, and will entail both working closely with the London Business and our Global partners.
Job responsibilities
Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems Develop secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect Develop and enhancement of distributed trading software products with the focus on maintainability and accountability Develop supplementary software component providing access to reference data Identification of opportunities for improvement, including, but not limited to, latency improvement, configuration and maintenance simplification Liaising with business partners on new feature requests Providing L2 support to the trading deskRequired qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and proficient advanced experience Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability Advanced in one or more programming language(s) Proficiency in modern C++ (C++17) is essential Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.) Comfortable developing on and for Linux operating systems Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability Experience in latency and load capacity optimization of software products Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills Experience dealing with native market data feeds In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems Practical cloud native experienceAbout the Innovation Lab in Athens
