This position, which offers a blend of onsite and hybrid work arrangements, is based in Grand Rapids and necessitates a presence in the office for 2-3 days each week. An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.

**About Us:** The Platform Software group at GE Aerospace develops embedded software for civil and military markets, including avionics computing, flight management, vehicle health, and mission systems. Our work includes firmware, board support packages, boot loaders, RTOS integration, and services like data loaders and built-in tests.

**Role Summary:** We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer (LSE) to provide technical expertise and oversight for assigned product areas, ensuring successful full-lifecycle embedded software development and DO-178C certification.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Software Development:**
+ Develop and integrate embedded flight software to meet system requirements.
+ Define software requirements and create model-based designs.
+ Test software to ensure functionality.
+ Participate in FAA certification processes.
+ Provide progress updates.
**Subject Matter Expertise:**
+ Maintain expert knowledge of assigned product areas.
+ Own technical aspects of software design and artifacts.
+ Coordinate with customers and internal stakeholders.
+ Guide and oversee team members.
**Development Approach:**
+ Promote continuous improvement to meet customer commitments.
+ Use Product Line Engineering (PLE) practices to maximize reuse.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
+ Minimum 3 years of experience in embedded real-time systems/software development.
**Desired Characteristics:**
+ Master’s degree in an Engineering-related field.
+ Familiarity with Earned Value Management, Agile Scrum, and DO-178B/C certification standards.
+ Knowledge of processing platforms, network products, RTOS, and multi-core processor architectures.
+ Expertise with ARINC-653 IMA-based operating systems.
+ Strong communication skills and ability to multi-task.
**Additional Information:**
+ Up to 10% travel may be required.
+ Position based in Grand Rapids, MI, with a hybrid work schedule (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office).
