Lead Specialist, Fluid Mechanics Job Description **Specialist to Drive the Area of Fluid Mechanics** In the Structural & Fluid Mechanics Technology department, we develop the pump technologies of tomorrow, and we explore and realize innovative concepts in the field of fluid mechanics. This is your chance to create an impact within a core discipline of Grundfos where we pioneer solutions to the world’s water and climate challenges and improve the quality of life for people. The department is accountable for identifying and developing new technologies, building needed capabilities, and driving innovation opportunities. The activities are anchored in a solid understanding of the application, with emphasis on the customer value proposition. Further, we provide specialist support to cross-disciplinary innovation projects where structural and fluid mechanics are pivotal. From the first day on the job, you are expected to create an impact in our projects, our activities, with your colleagues, and our customers by developing new technology as the foundation of your work. This is supported by technology scouting in close collaboration with external partners and universities. The position is about identifying opportunities, establishing visions, and driving activities to demonstrate and validate new innovations for pumps and pump solutions within the field of fluid mechanics with a high degree of breadth and depth since it is expected that new opportunities for Grundfos are explored within as different areas as; heat transfer in motors; sand erosion in pumps (CFD-DEM); fluid-structure interaction (FSI) for coupled analysis on integrity; chemical reactions for disinfection solutions; etc. **Required Qualifications:** + M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Fluid Mechanics with 8-10 years of experience in an R&D environment. + 8-10 years of relevant work experience besides formal education. + Strong background executing complex or specialized projects and activities in product or technology development focusing on fluid mechanics. + Proven results supporting key initiatives in a large organization. + Analytical approach to challenges and a problem-solving mindset. + Thrives in an environment with a high degree of accountability, empowerment, and collaboration. **Main Tasks:** + As the lead specialist, innovate new technology in projects by developing future pump solutions​to meet the water challenges of tomorrow. + Drive capability building and provide technical support​in the field of fluid mechanics. + Drive university/partner collaboration and Ph.D. supervision​. + Accountable for technology scouting, review, and strategic technology assessment within fluid mechanics. + Lead cross-organizational tech. community​of fluid mechanics and simulation experts. + Democratize and scale the technology development by developing the professional skills of others. **Position and Reporting:** + Lead Specialist in Structural & Fluid Mechanics Technology with report to the head of department, Tobias Randers Olesen. Tobias has been with Grundfos since 2013, where he has been involved in various development activities in fields such as hydraulic design, SDD, and new concepts. As head of the department, Tobias is building the framework for a collaborative and empowered team built on trust, and he strives to be present, prepared, and trustworthy in his leadership. + The department is part of Technology Development in the Global Technology and Innovation organization in Grundfos. This is where new technology is pioneered in Grundfos. **Primary work relations will be:** + Two specialists in fluid mechanics with a proven track record on developing new technologies within thermal management design of Grundfos motors, on how to simulate and mitigate sand wear in submersible pumps, and on how to design UV-LED technology for disinfection. You will also work closely with ten specialists in structural mechanics working with SDD, design for additive manufacturing, concept development, integrated systems, sound & vibration, robust design, etc. Through technology projects, there will be much cooperation with other deep experts from fields such as controls, water treatment, sensor technology, and more. + Leading universities and partners within fluid mechanics to ensure we remain at the forefront of the industry. **Required Competencies:** + Expert knowledge of CFD methods, including experience with + ANSYS CFX/Fluent + OpenFOAM + Knowledge about general programming + Systems (HPC/Linux) + Verification & Validation + People Skills + Accountable and independent + Proactive, analytical and problem-solving + Thrive with technical leadership responsibility and as driver of community **What’s in it for you?** What are your goals?
