About the Role

• Design, build, and maintain a company's data infrastructure, ensuring accurate and timely data accessibility for various applications and users.
• Responsible for creating and managing data pipelines, databases, and data warehouses, making raw data usable for analysis and decision-making.

Designing and implementing data architectures, this includes designing databases, data warehouses, and other data systems to meet specific business needs. 

Building and maintaining data pipelines, create and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to collect, clean, and transform data from various sources. 

Manage and optimize the storage of large volumes of data, ensuring efficient retrieval and access.

Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability, including implementing data quality checks and monitoring.

Ensure documentation of processes, changes, and implementations. 

Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and ensure data accessibility

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data systems and pipelines, ensuring optimal performance.

Keep up with new technologies and best practices in data engineering to improve data infrastructure and processes.

Job Requirements :

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

At least 5 years in insurance or shared services line, particularly working on data related initiatives and reporting for large, complex organizations.

Strong knowledge of data modeling principles and database systems (e.g. relational databases, SQL databases) is required. 

Experience with big data technologies or cloud-based data platforms (e.g. Azure, Google Cloud) is required. 

Understanding of ETL processes and tools is for data extraction, transformation, and loading. 

Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools for storing and managing large datasets. 

Specific Skills

Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, manage projects, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.  

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve data issues.

Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential for working with other teams and stakeholders. 

Demonstrated ability to build, maintain and navigate the organization using formal / informal networking skills

Proficient in both written and spoken English

Advanced proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint)

Proficiency in other statistical/reporting software is an advantage
