Lead Speciality Software Engineer - eFX

About this role:

Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) is the Capital Markets and Investment Banking division of Wells Fargo Bank, NA.  As a part of Institutional Investor Services, WATS electronic equities trading group provides the state-of-the-art technology enables efficient trading strategies across single stocks, portfolios, and pairs trading.

We are seeking a Lead Specialty Software Developer work in our FX technology Electronic Trading team in Capital Markets. The candidate will be actively engaged in architecture, design, development, unit testing, and stress testing of a high-performance framework for high-end Electronic Trading applications and be a key participant in a highly talented delivery team for front-office trading development. The Electronic Trading application suite is built on common foundational frameworks and is used to deliver sophisticated and complex front office trading solutions.

This individual will be a senior systems engineer and technical expert in the development of very highly sophisticated and complex trading applications for a major functional and/or product area within the FX businesses. They will analyze highly complex business requirements. Write functional documents and design technical specifications. Design and/or redesign existing complex computer platforms and applications.


In this role, you will:

Lead complex initiatives on selected domainsEnsure systems are monitored to increase operational efficiency and managed to mitigate riskDefine opportunities to maximize resource utilization and improve processes while reducing costLead, design, develop, test and implement applications and system components, tools and utilities, models, simulation, and analytics to manage complex business functions using sophisticated technologiesResolve coding, testing and escalated platform issues of a technically challenging natureLead team to ensure compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiativesMentor less experienced software engineersCollaborate and influence all levels of professionals including managersLead team to achieve objectivesPartner with production support and platform engineering teams effectively


Required Qualifications:

Experience in Specialty Software Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, educationJava experienceFX e-trading experienceAlgorithmic/electronic-trading development experienceLow Latency systems development or implementation experienceHand on multicast messaging framework development experienceMulti-threading experience


Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of all FX Products including Spot, Forwards, NDFs and Swaps for pricing construction and risk managementStrong knowledge of JDK 1.8+ programming paradigmsStrong knowledge of multi-core / multi-threading concepts and paradigmsStrong knowledge of UNIX/LINUXStrong knowledge of core computer science design concepts, algorithms, and data structuresBackground in e-trading (SOR/Algo/EMS/MarketData) and (electronic market making products)Experience in low latency/real-time development and optimizationWorking knowledge with market data / ECN connectivity / FIX protocol developmentLow-latency JAVA experience (GC tuning, etc.)Working knowledge of quantitative modelingWorking knowledge with tools required for regression test automationAdvanced experience in capital markets business and processesBasic knowledge and understanding of SEC, FINRA and international regulationsWorking knowledge on Agile best practices
