Lead Sr Systems Engineer - GIS

Job Summary 

Will lead a software development team that supports the GIS environment with specific deliverables while embracing new SaaS technologies, innovative ideas and creativity. Ensures [products, systems software and operating systems, infrastructure and tools] are tailored to maximize functionality. Investigates and coordinates the resolution of complex service problems across a variety functions. Prepares and maintains operational documentation and standards. Knowledgeable of cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring security and compliance in collaboration with other teams.

Knowledge and Skills 

Leads a team or squad to deliver software solutions for our customers. Ability to Inspire, Guide, Coach and provide Career Succession for direct reports.  Plans, coordinates and implements service request work and has a significant role in the delegation of responsibilities. Works under broad direction. Work is often self-initiated. Is fully accountable for meeting allocated technical objectives. Establishes milestones for project related work and makes decisions which impact the success of projects and team objectives. Analyzes, designs, plans, executes and evaluates work to time, cost, and quality targets. Investigates and resolves complex problems requiring an understanding of the relationship between own specialism and wider customer /organizational requirements. Influences organization, customers, suppliers, partners and peers on the contribution of his own specialism. Performs an extensive range of complex technical or professional work activities. Undertakes work which requires the application of fundamental IT principles in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts. Maintains an awareness of developments in the industry. Takes initiative to keep skills up to date. Mentors colleagues. Follow best practices around developing and maintaining secure systems. Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems/Technology or related major field of study. 7 or more years of experience required in engineering/administration.

Equivalent Minimums 

High School diploma/GED. 9 or more years of experience required in systems engineering/administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited institution required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems/Technology or related major field of study. 5 or more years of experience in engineering/administration

Knowledge and Skills 

Ability to lead, inspire and empower others while delegating roles and responsibilities Knowledge of the foundational GIS concepts, techniques and platforms Demonstrated ability to assess and evaluate risk and use an analytical and systematic approach to problem solving Proven ability to communicate effectively, formally and informally, orally and in writing, to both technical and non-technical audiences Ability to rapidly absorb and understand relevance of new technical information to the business, and demonstrate creativity and innovation in applying solutions Proven ability to demonstrate leadership within team and facilitate collaboration between stakeholders Ability to analyze requirements and offer options for continuous improvements
