We are hiring an Lead Technical Engineer – Motor Design to join our Spruance site, located in Richmond, VA

This position is within Energy Solutions Technical Service & Application Development team and is focused on Electrical Insulation Systems used in Electric Vehicles.  This role is responsible for applications development for the Nomex® insulating products used in the industry as well as identification of new industry trends and needs that result in development of new materials to support growing needs in North and Latin American regions.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Develop electrical insulation solutions for HEV/EV motors with DuPont products & technology via supporting North and Latin American customer’s projects.

Develop new electrical insulation system in HEV/EV motors via creative approaches based on customer needs.

Understand customer needs and define/translate them for the global team focused on new product development, collect feedback/unmet needs from customers in new product trials.

Design testing programs for HEV/EV motor applications, work with lab colleagues to analyze testing results and prepare the data for customer and internal communications.

Provide in-time technical support to NA/LA customers based on business needs.        

Participate in national/global standard activities related to DuPont XEV motor business.      

Develop local network in NA/LA for electrical insulation system development in HEV/EV motors.

Partnering with Sales and Marketing teams to support existing customers.

Understand new trends in the industry and communicate these trends to the commercial and marketing teams and help to develop an action plan for DuPont.

                                                                              

Your Key Qualifications:

BS or above in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.

5+ years of hands on experience in motor design, manufacturing and insulation system testing, motor parts fabrication. Exposure to high voltage/frequency systems is a plus.

Experience in regional or global motor standards development.

In depth knowledge of electrical insulation materials and systems development.

Demonstrated strong technical capability, particularly in problem solving/analytical ability.

Demonstrated capability of working with cross-functional teams for developing and commercializing new products and applications.

Ability to analyze date and present it in a meaningful way to both internal and external teams.

Experience with designed experimentation and statistics such as Six-Sigma methodologies.

Proven track record of established relationships across the industry value chain.

Ability to take initiatives - Identify problem and suggest solutions, proactively think with the team on product development and customer issues.

Innovative, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial initiative.

Good learning agility and self-driven.

Effective verbal and written communication skills English (additional languages are preferred).

Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, and PowerPoint basic usage.

Good interpersonal skills to lead and mentor teams and to thrive with others who have diverse skills, education, and backgrounds.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Flexible with frequent business travels in North and Latin America with potential for global travel.
