SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Lead Technical Trainer- T&D Electric Traction, under the guidance of the Manager of Training and Development, is responsible for planning, monitoring, developing, and delivering training to Electric Traction Third Rail personnel within the New York territory as well as other programs as assigned. This position is required to successfully plan and execute all instructional sessions in order to provide each employee with a full understanding and knowledge to comply with company policies, federal and state laws. When necessary, confers with System ET management and staff to determine training needs, regulatory compliance, guidance, and interpretation of regulatory rules.
This role supports the organization by ensuring awareness of Amtrak’s safety and security policy by providing clear instruction of new and revised policies & procedures for the Engineering Department as well as other departments as needed on instructions of material such as but not limited to AMT II, EPS, SOIs, Fall Protection, etc. Compliance to federal and state regulations (CFR, OSHA, ANSI) by maintaining training records and performance assessments for those trained through assigned programs. Bridges gap between instructor and leadership with peer-to-peer mentorship and coaching.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Transportation (or related field) or equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience In lieu of a degree, ten (10) years of relevant work experience must be clearly articulated Six (6) years of experience in the Electric Traction Department as a qualified Class A substation employee or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience Qualified as a Third Rail Class A Employee Completion of the Third Rail Training program Must possess or be willing to acquire certifications for the following within 6 months from acceptance of position: Mid-Atlantic South Substation Territory, RWP, AMT-2 Class A QualificationMINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Subject Matter Expert in primary training area with ability to assist other programs as needed Able to effectively delivery training in assigned training material Proven ability to obtain class A qualifications Knowledge of Amtrak Electric Traction policies and procedures Able to maintain all required qualifications and certifications in order to deliver training according to state and federal requirements Able to work effectively in a team environment Excellent decision making and organizational skills Able to provide feedback to participants on abilities to perform training tasks Strong organization, administrative, planning, and analytical skills Effective communication skills including presentation delivery, writing and verbal communications Experience using PC-based word processing spreadsheets, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Must be highly organized and able to handle a variety of duties, frequently with limited timeframes

The salary/hourly range is $94,300 - $122,256. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
