Objectives of the Position
APT/C is globally responsible for developing external sourcing / tolling concepts and providing sourcing solution for the Agricultural Solution Division with focus on tolling / sourcing of key raw materials, intermediates and active ingredients. We ensure flexible and secure supply at competitive cost in compliance with BASF procurement and contract manufacturing guidelines.
Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities
Lead the Contract Manufacturing & Sourcing Team in India.Identify and evaluate suitable co-operation partners (suppliers, tollers, service providers) to ensure that BASF AP develops a reliable supplier/toller base in India. Act as focal point for Indian partners for all business relationships and as the key interface for internal stakeholders (APM, APT/T, APT/C, legal etc)Negotiate competitive and flexible toll manufacturing and supply agreements.Manage and supervise running sourcing/tolling operations to guarantee sustainable supply in terms of quality, costs, and compliance to BASF guidelines (EHS, procurement, contract manufacturing)Conduct campaign reconciliations and set up targets and implementation plans for process improvements at the tollers to reduce raw material and variable manufacturing costs.Collaborate with Global Technology Teams and support technical project implementation of new active ingredients. In close alignment with Global Technology Teams implement sourcing / tolling projects at tollers for mature products.Collaborate closely with Global Sourcing Teams and propose sourcing strategies for products available in India with the objective to optimize manufacturing costs of APT while balancing risk and opportunities.Maintain global sourcing strategies for assigned active ingredients as Global Strategic Sourcing Manager (GSSM), drive strategic alignment with stakeholders (APT/T, APM, APT/O) and ensure appropriate Senior Management approvals and document decisions accordingly.Provide market and supply chain intelligence in the area of agro industry.
Job Requirements (Minimum requirement to carry out the work)
Education:
University degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry or comparable field
Working Experience:
More than 15 years working experience in plant operations (production), technology related positions (e.g. technology transfers), toller management and sourcingExperience in commercial negotiation of complex tolling contracts
Technical & Professional Knowledge:
Knowledge in negotiation of complex contracts with Senior Management at tollersTechnical knowledge required (process chemistry or engineering) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate within global organization and different stakeholdersStrong trouble shooting and conflict management skills.
