Job Description Summary:

Employee is responsible to provide direct leadership to a department of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and/or Outpatient Therapy Clinics. Helps ensure customer needs are met in a timely, efficient, and cost effective manner while meeting standards of all accrediting bodies.

ResponsibilitiesProvides leadership for the department for both clinical and non-clinical staff for the daily operation of the department.Assists with daily staffing of the department to provide adequate staffing for efficient patient care.Helps develop a plan to ensure clinical competency of clinical staff and participates in any formal check off process for the department.Provides leadership in departmental yearly goals to develop, implement, and measure success with set goals.Participate in discussions regarding new programs or expanded services for the department.Serves as a resource for non-clinical staff for daily operations of the department.Serves as a resource for clinical staff for patient care and daily operations of the department.Helps ensure compliance with all accrediting bodies (i.e,TJC, State, etc.).Promotes departmental camaraderie and teamwork and represents West Tennessee Healthcare in a positive manner both on and off duty.Promotes inter-departmental communication and serves as a liaison of the department to other hospital departments as well as clinics in the communities.Will understand and uphold departmental and hospital policies as documented.Will assist with the team interview process once candidates are screened by Human Resources and the department director to make recommendations for hiring competent personnel.Assist in the orientation of new employees including licensed and non-licensed staff to make them feel welcome to the department.Assists in identifying and developing departmental policies as needed based on best clinical practice.Assist in identifying departmental needs for learning and education to ensure current practices are clinically sound.Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.Qualifications

EDUCATION: Professional Degree in occupational therapy, physical therapy or speech language pathology.      
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: License to practice occupational therapy, physical therapy or speech language pathology in Tennessee (or license eligible).  
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years experience in occupational therapy, physical therapy, or speech language pathology and has evident leadership skills.
