Responsibilities

As a Lead Diesel Truck Mechanic, you are responsible in supervising mechanics that assess and repair our fleet of Semi Tractor/Trailers at the Railyard. You will be responsible for Identifying problems with mechanical, hydraulic, diesel & electrical systems and executes solutions. Read & understand hydraulic & electrical schematics. Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines (Cat, Cummins, Detroit). Perform maintenance & mechanical repairs on Hostlers & Forklifts. Maintain routine maintenance schedules on all Tractor Semi/ Trailers.

 

Additional responsibilities

Partner with the Regional Maintenance Manager and Terminal Manager to prioritize the tasks for the day/week/month.Offer solutions and recommendations to meet the maintenance needs of the terminal.Serve as a subject matter expert in maintenance and be able to provide technical training and leadership to other maintenance team members.Manage inventory for the location, making purchases through vendors as approved.Handle administrative job duties regarding inspections, repairs, and purchases. Qualifications 3-5 years of Tractor Semi/Trailer repair & Maintenance experienceKnowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel, electrical, cooling, and exhaust systemsAble to perform maintenance inspections that include tune-ups, oil changes, and other key services.Able to inspect mileage, belts, flushing fluids, and gasket replacements.Hydraulic and electrical maintenance experience is requiredStrong communication skillsStrong Leadership skillsAbility to lead a team and provide directionAbility to lift 50lbs.Willingness to work in varying weather conditionsOwning tools preferred but not requiredValid Driver’s LicenseMust pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screeningThe Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations.
