About you and this role The Dow Polyurethane Systems business is seeking a Technical Service and Development Engineer to join the Polyurethanes Energy Efficiency segment, based in Correggio, Italy. The primary responsibilities include working in the technology area of polyurethane rigid foam for Cold Chain and Construction applications, ranging from new product development to providing technical assistance to customers across the EMEAI region. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, comfortable with tight timelines, and capable of working both independently and as part of cross-functional international teams. The role requires strong technical thinking and the application of scientific methodology for troubleshooting and development activities. Additionally, a hands-on approach to polyurethane processing equipment and assisting customers with process-related troubleshooting is essential. Collaboration is key in this role, as the candidate will work closely with the TS&D Leader EMEAI, regional and global TS&D networks, and the Marketing and Sales teams. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions in the polyurethane industry while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Responsibilities + Develop value-creating solutions and products for customers, translating Dow's technologies into business opportunities. + Apply the scientific method to solve technical problems, develop applications, and enhance product performance. + Identify patentable ideas, participate in patent teams, and initiate confidentiality agreements to protect Dow's intellectual capital. + Lead technical sub-teams, define project scopes, and provide constructive advice to team members. + Tailor communication for various audiences, document work through reports and presentations, and draft patent disclosures as needed. Qualifications + A minimum of an MSc in chemistry, polymer science, industrial chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, or material engineering; a PhD is a plus. + Experience in polymer chemistry (synthesis/characterization) and/or formulation science is preferred. + Experience in polyurethane chemistry and processing is a plus and Experience in rigid polyurethane foam is highly valued. + Proficient in English Your Skills + Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of polyurethane chemistry and processing, with the ability to develop innovative solutions. + Problem-Solving: Proficiency in applying scientific methods to troubleshoot and solve technical problems. + Collaboration: Effective in cross-functional international teams, building networks across geographies and cultures. + Communication: Excellent skills to tailor messages for various audiences and document work clearly. + Hands-On Approach: Practical experience with polyurethane processing equipment and customer troubleshooting.
