As the Americas region experiences growth and complexity in payroll processing, we're looking for an innovative and experienced payroll professional to bring fresh ideas to the table.

 

In this role, you'll be part of a team responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll for our US and Canadian entities. You'll also assist with payroll system configurations and implementations, leveraging your problem-solving skills and process improvement experience. WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS
Payroll Tasks for US employees: 70%
•    Ensure payments to US employees are within strict deadlines.
•    Responsible for data input, related audits/edits of that data, relevant reporting, and interacting with other payroll team members.
•    Accountable for verification and reconciliation of each payroll run and resolving discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
•    Ensure that necessary government filings and remittances related to payroll are made in a timely manner including but not limited to garnishments, tax slips and taxes.
•    Complete Year-End Process and file all applicable tax year-end filings.
•    Identify and process taxable benefits.
•    Assist employees with payroll requests and questions in a timely manner.
•    Provide Finance with GL details and assist in reconciliations and research.
•    Stay abreast of legislative changes and compliance issues.


Strategic Projects: 30%
•    The project work includes assisting with migrating subsets of employees onto our ADP GlobalView platform and integrating into our global HCM system, SAP SuccessFactors. 
•    Handling special requests as needed (e.g., audit, compensation, legal inquiries)
 

Cross-Functional Work:
•    Potential cross-over payroll work with the Canada payroll is a possibility as OpenText values the ability to process and understand multiple country payrolls.
•    Coordination with HR and Finance teams on items such as  the administration of Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) and Stock Options as related to payroll, applicable year-end reporting of ESPP and Stock Options, and pension remittances and reporting.

•    Operating within a Managed Services delivery model with ADP, liaising with Payroll provider (ADP GlobalView)
•    Visibility and interactions with key stakeholders in Information Technology, Human Resources, Legal, Accounting & Finance as well as supporting employees with stellar customer service 

 

 

What It Takes
•    5+ years’ experience in US Payroll, with an international company with multiple legal entities, highly matrixed, large company environment
•    Experience with outsourced payroll packages (ADP GlobalView, Streamline, Celergo, etc.) strongly preferred
•    SAP SuccessFactors Human Capital Management experience strongly preferred
•    CPP & Professional certifications preferred
•    Experience with projects such as implementing new payroll platforms and systems integrations.
•    Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as a co-operative team member.
•    Organized with an ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while working towards strict deadlines.

 


Work Arrangement: This role will be office-based out of the Waterloo, ON office.  Employees need to be in the office on OpenText corporate days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) to drive maximum coordination and collaboration.
