Powell is an engineered to order manufacturer of switchgear and electrical equipment for the power generation industry.  A Lead Wireperson is responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining electrical systems and components.  Four 10s Schedule: Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-1:00am

Position Summary

A Lead Wireperson is responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining electrical systems and components. They work with various types of wiring, cables, and connectors to ensure proper functioning of electrical equipment and systems. Wirepersons may read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints, and they often work closely with electricians and other technicians to complete projects. They must adhere to safety regulations and follow industry standards to ensure the integrity and reliability of electrical systems.  Four 10s Schedule: Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-1:00am

Essential Responsibilities

•Train employees; assist in new employee training plans

•Communicate and delegate daily priorities to other employees

•Release jobs to QA

•Write purchase requisitions; order parts of GEXPRO

•Lead/Mentor 6S and continuous improvement projects, including Kaizen events

•Lead Quality Initiatives

•Communicate within department and with other departments to resolve issues and drive timely completion of jobs

•Review bill of materials and drawings for issues

•Assist in interviews and new hire selection

•Identify training needs for the group and help develop appropriate training plan

•Assist in tracking job efficiency and productivity

•Assist in employee evaluation process

•Communicate passdown information

•Lead Safety and Quality meetings

•Support the enforcement of Powell's policies and safety program

Minimum Qualifications

•Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma is preferred.

•8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

•Knowledge of system software (i.e. Oracle, MES, True View) to look up parts and drawings.

•Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques.

Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements

•Knowledge and understanding of Engineering Change orders

•Read and understand spec sheets and follow proper use of hardware by spec requirements.

•Advanced knowledge of single and three-line drawings, including symbols

•Ability to identify part discrepancies and properly write HFDs for corrections

•Knowledge of mechanical drawings and designs

•Ability to complete complex engineering changes.

•Effectively demonstrates on-time delivery and the ability to stay focused on goals and responsibilities.

•Self-starter with ability to take on multiple tasks with a drive to succeed.

Working & Environmental Conditions

Working Conditions

Safety sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required. Must be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and scaffolding. Working at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air on or using proper lift equipment.

Physical Requirements

Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs. Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously. Continuous standing, walking 50–300-foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting. Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift. Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently. Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs. Frequent use of hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time.
