The **Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD)** is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).
As the **Lean 6 Sigma Black Belt** you will be responsible for training and leading continuous improvement project teams, focused on continuous improvement efforts within our Maintenance Components manufacturing facilities creating World class manufacturing environments.

**What You Will Do:**
+ Lead continuous improvement projects within the value center and effectively coordinate these projects with the Project Sponsor and other improvement project teams by identifying opportunities, defining and financially justifying projects, launching project teams, using good project management to manage team activities, leading teams to execute projects using Design of Experiments and other methodology, tracking project status and results, removing and elevating project barriers, and developing team members.
+ Identify integration issues with other projects/processes and coordinate the improvements with the appropriate project/process owners to accomplish the project goals.
+ **Measure Results:**
+ Manage the development and maintenance of methods and systems for measuring the degree to which the project goals, objectives and metrics are being met. Provide Project Sponsor with the results and take corrective project action as required to improve on results below target.
+ **Recruit and train team members:**
+ Identify potential Black Belts and recruit team members in the 6 Sigma infrastructure. Provide necessary training and coaching to team members to spread the base of 6 Sigma problem solving tools.
+ **Integrate improvement projects:**
+ Ensure projects are integrated with other business activities, improvement projects, and business strategy.
+ **Communicate:**
+ Ensure multi-channel communication throughout the organization. This includes the Project Sponsor informed of program status and ensuring coordination of activities with other Black Belts. Also, this includes capturing project case histories that can be reused for other projects.
+ Provide quantitative data indicating the scope of the operation including current year and forecast sales, net income, total assets controlled, number of personnel, operating budget, and any other quantitative factors which describe the scope of the operation.
+ Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

+ Sets priorities for addressing process problems that limit performance.
+ Develops methods for improving and establishing controls for critical processes.
+ Monitors external sources for applicable new methods and controls.
+ Analyzes findings from improvement cycles to ensure success of interventions.
+ Coaches’ others to develop the skills to improve processes.
+ **Project Management:** Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
+ Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status.
+ Under guidance, plans and estimates simple projects.
+ Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule, and resource requirements.
+ Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project.
+ Produces standard project status reports.
+ **Six Sigma Methodology:** Knowledge of the concepts of six sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) methodology; ability to use the methodology to improve the manufacturing processes and control the improvements by eliminating root causes.
+ Analyzes business priorities for selecting potential critical metrics.
+ Uses tools (e.g. trend charts, Pareto charts, sigma conversion chart) to measure historical performance.
+ Research important causes that have an impact on quality and customer satisfaction with the use of statistical tools.
+ Resolves routine problems in a cost-effective manner.
+ Reports deviances from process improvements.
**What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
+ Knowledge of other functions that provide inputs regularly (Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Accounting, Human Resources, and Operations).
+ Previous leadership/supervisory-related experience.
+ Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment.
+ Previous Lean Operations/Continuous Improvement experience.

**Summary Pay Range:**
$144,960.00 - $217,320.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
