Job Title: Lean Process Leader

Salary: From £55,516 + (Depending on Experience)

Location: Peterborough

About IPSD

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary

Reporting to the Service & Customer Support (S&CS) Strategy Manager within SMSP, a great opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager.

This is a key role in the S&CS group to lead customer focused projects to ensure they are delivered on time, to cost and quality as many of our tools, processes and services interact with Caterpillar Industrial Dealers and Perkins Distributors. This will involve leading working teams to deliver IT system and lean process improvements across a global team.

You will support efforts to drive a team culture focused on continuous improvement and develop team competency in Lean thinking, problem solving, project and change management. You will support the execution and evolution of the S&CS strategy to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

This role will provide you with the ability to further build your lean leadership and project management skills with the opportunity to become Six Sigma Blackbelt trained (if required). You will gain deep global process knowledge and develop an extensive network working with process partners throughout the organisation. The skills, experience and exposure that will be gained through this role will equip you for progression into future managerial positions.

Responsibilities and project opportunities span across multiple commercial and technical functions, such as Product Support, Applications & Installation (A&I), Field Service, Service Engineering and Global Technical Services.

What You Will Do:

Lead wider customer service and cross functional lean improvement projects

Identifying and delivering lean process improvements

Collaborate and communicate with SMSP global teams and process partners to continuously improve our tools, services and processes.

Provide lean leadership support within S&CS, including helping to develop team competency in Lean thinking and problem solving

Help create a team culture focused on continuous improvement

What You Have:

Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.
Level Working Knowledge:

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Level Basic Understanding:

Effective verbal & written communication – able to articulate clear messaging to Stakeholders and present material appropriate to the audience

Top Candidates may demonstrate some of the following skills:

Operations experience

Knowledge of Caterpillar and Perkins engine product line

A keen interest in product development and new technologies and learn technical processes

Six Sigma Methodology: Knowledge of the concepts of six sigma DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) methodology; ability to use the methodology to improve the manufacturing processes and control the improvements by eliminating root causes.
Level Working Knowledge:

Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
