Role description: The Lean Six Sigma Specialist (LSSS) supports and leads the identification, scoping and execution of Standardization and Automation initiatives. The role engages with global and local stakeholders across the Arcadis organization to identify and scope opportunities. The role conducts fact-based analyses and problem solving and develops actionable recommendations to drive business impact. The role provides expertise in deploying LSS projects and serves as the internal project manager and consultant supporting the workstreams and functions. The role is a critical enabler to achieve Arcadis’s objectives and strengthen the continuous improvement culture.

Providing support and expertise to identify, evaluate, plan, execute and implement business process improvements. Driving business efficiencies and partnering closely with the functional teams to identify requirements, analyze potential gaps and opportunities for improvement and automation and make improvement recommendations. Leading and/or supporting identified improvement efforts through all stages of the (Six Sigma) improvement process — including Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control (DMAIC) across various areas of the organization. Providing leadership and guidance for the people who are involved in the project such as process owners, subject matter experts or technology specialist. Identifying process waste and drive global process standardization and automation. Developing and documenting current and future processes of Arcadis, incorporating efficiency, effectiveness, standards, as well as best practices and benchmarks in coordination with all relevant stakeholders. Working closely with other LSS Specialists and different workstreams/functions to share opportunities and best practices. Collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders across Arcadis to gather and analyze detailed information about proposed process changes/improvements and the impact of the functional designs on the affected workstreams. Implementing improvements and measuring/confirming the results.As the LSS Specialist, a typical day includes the following:
Driving process improvement initiatives/projects from conceptualization to completion through collaboration of all groups by applying Six Sigma, Lean and Change Management methodology and tools. Supporting Global Business Process Owners to conduct in-depth analysis to identify areas of improvements and developing necessary procedures. Analyzing data through various statistical tools and providing insights, solutions, and recommendations for process improvement Working with process owners/experts to validate analysis and acquire recommendations and insights. Creating, measuring, and consistently sustaining culture and process changes to assist the operation in achieving its longer-term strategy. Utilizing LSS techniques to improve business processes and translate improvements into benefits. Identifying, reducing, and eliminating process variations, gaps and wastes. Performing value stream mapping and business process re-engineering and streamlining for the function/workstream/business unit. Managing onsite stakeholders advising project status, findings, and recommendations Supporting governance portals, dashboards, trackers for monitoring progress and reporting Preparing report-out documentation for project reviews. Providing LSS expertise for projects or Kaizen activities using a variety of LSS tools like Fishbone Diagram, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Minitab, or statistical analysis Establishing the Continuous Improvement Program for workstreams and functions and implement performance metrics and frequent performance reviews to ensure transformed processes remain in controls, deliver on expectations, and continuously improve. Facilitating LSS trainings and workshops (white, yellow, and green belts) and evaluating training effectiveness to further develop continuous improvement culture and competencies and make sure the sustainability of the program.Key shared accountabilities - The role is also accountable for the overall success if the S&A Program and needs to ensure the S&A objectives are defined and met.
Qualifications & Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will need a bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of experience applying LSS project management Methodologies. You must be a certified and experienced Black Belt and have proven practical LSS experience regarding principles, tools, and systems such as Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management, Standard Work, 5S, TPM, Mistake Proofing, Root Cause Analysis, among others and have successfully led and completed projects.
You will need to be able to demonstrate experience in transforming business processes in Shared Service Center setting, with the ability to promote and sustain continuous improvement efforts/projects and culture through engaging, influencing, inspiring, and motivating others.
Additional desired experience includes:
Experience in Finance and Procurement process design, optimization and implementation. Experience using the DMAIC model in a manner that aligns with Six Sigma principles and Lean enterprise concepts while assigning team member roles and responsibilities. Excellent written and oral English communication Ability to understand business process requirements, as well as to conceptualize and implement creative solutions. Action orientation, creativity, proactivity, and critical thinking Skills in tracking and producing key metrics and developing strategies to increase efficiency.
