Lean Specialist (Operational Excellence) - Indianapolis, IN
You will be responsible for supporting the Indianapolis Exits Manufacturing Plant through the Lean transformation and daily management initiatives. The Lean Specialist is an integral part of the plant’s daily operations, growth, and transformation. Your role will ensure the principles, practices, and tools are incorporated into the Allegion culture. As the Operational Excellence Lean Specialist, you will have the opportunity to interact directly with all levels of plant operations and corporate leadership. Your role is key to the implementation and support actions that will bring about improvements to multiple areas including safety, customer value proposition, quality, delivery, cycle, growth, margin expansion, and inventory.
What You Will Do:
Implement tactical strategies to achieve the desired vision and execute long and short-term objectives to support the value stream’s goals.Drive Operational Excellence culture change through coaching of employees and leaders to drive Lean behaviors and follow the principles and practices of Allegion’s Operational Excellence Model.Support the Lean initiatives as the Lean Specialist in collaboration with the value stream team through operational design, process improvements, and systems support utilizing value stream mapping techniques.Provide effective project updates to Value Stream Leadership on key metrics and sustainability.Participate in and actively direct Gemba Walks and educating others on continuous improvement including takt time attainment and Lean methodologies.Implement and maintain visual performance tools.What You Will Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree desired in preferably a management, leadership, engineering, or supply chain course of study; relative experience could be considered.Minimum of 4 years experience working in a position associated with lean concepts or Toyota Production System.Experience in Front Line Leadership in operations and/or materials.Experience with distribution, warehousing and/or logistics facilities a plus.You would ideally have some level of understanding of PowerBI, WMS, MES, and ERP systems.Strong written & oral communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate with various audiences.Ability to positively influence and motivate teams to facilitate change.Ability to lead teams on project work via continuous improvement tools such as A3 or kaizen.Mathematical Skills: Use of simple statistical and graphical tools. Ability to interpret manufacturing schematics and blueprints.Reasoning Ability: Define problem areas, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions from multiple sources. Interpret a variety of technical procedures or processes with abstract and concrete variables.In addition, you ideally have a strong knowledge of Lean concepts and continuous improvement-based tools and techniques, have worked in a Lean environment, or have a certification from a recognized provider of Lean Transformation training involving (but not limited to) 5S, A3 Problem Solving, MDI, Pull Systems, PFEP, Value Stream Mapping, OEE, Standardized Work, and Kaizen Facilitation.Allegion is a Great Place to Grow your Career if:
