Lean Technician-Distribution

Job Summary:

We are currently looking for a Lean Technician within our Supply Operational Excellence organization, focused on Distribution. This is a 2nd Shift position onsite in Atlanta, GA, the hours are from 2:30p-11:00p.

Under the direction of the site Value Stream Coach, this position is responsible for supporting daily management excellence and lean transformation initiatives by ensuring the execution of lean principles/practices/tools. This position will work with operational excellence and distribution teams to bring about improvements within safety, customer value, quality, delivery, cycle time, growth, margin expansion, and inventory.

Responsibilities:

Support the implementation and sustainment of Trane Lean Business Operating System

Help establish, update and maintain visual performance tools, including Mission Control, Andons and MDIMaintain and improve the physical/visual elements of MDI and Mission ControlCreate and audit standard work, coach the standard work processReview group of standard work for completeness and availabilityPerform LSW audits and work with leaders to improve LSW applicationLead or participate on improvement projects

Collect and monitor data surrounding improvement activities

Gather data in preparation for improvement events (time studies, logs, pareto/trends)Collect, monitor and audit data for problem solvingUse data analysis to define current state

Train, coach and support hourly operators, team leaders and other employees on Lean Tools

Support/conduct 9-Step and Intro to Lean coursesSupport/conduct new hires and onboarding processLead execution and coaching of 5S activitiesParticipate in, co-facilitate or facilitate projects, RIEs and “just do-it’s.

Ability to create standard work documents, operational procedures and visual work aidsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from associates, supervisors and managers at the site levelMust be viewed credibly as either an informal leader or a positive influencer of changeMust be a self-motivated learnerMust possess a strong work ethicAbility to mentor team members and facilitate change from a position of InfluencerAbility to energize and motivate teamsAbility to recognize conflict and take appropriate action within scope of the role

Other Requirements:

Must be prepared for flexible work hours including alternative or rotating shift schedulesKnowledge of basic Lean Manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement based tools and techniques preferred (or willingness to learn)Capability with personal computer applications ( Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio or ability to learn)
