About the role:
This role is responsible for the overall Lease accounting and reporting processes across the organization. Oversees the accurate set-up and modification of leases within the accounting system, ensuring all lease terms, data, and attributes are properly captured and in full alignment with ASC 842 requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lease Accounting Expertise: Act as the primary subject matter expert for all lease accounting-related inquiries across the organization. Provide guidance to ensure consistent interpretation and application of ASC 842, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Lease Setup & Modifications: Oversee the accurate set-up and modification of leases within the accounting system, ensuring all lease terms, data, and attributes are properly captured and in full alignment with ASC 842 requirements. Manage the integration of new leases and modifications into financial records.
Monthly Lease Journal Entries & Reconciliation: Lead the monthly process of recording lease-related journal entries, ensuring accurate financial transactions. Conduct account reconciliations for all lease-related accounts, promptly identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Financial Reporting Support: Prepare, analyze, and present ad-hoc reports as needed to support internal reviews, accounting processes, and financial reporting requirements. Collaborate with finance teams to provide accurate and timely lease-related data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Internal Controls & Compliance: Take responsibility for maintaining and strengthening the company’s internal controls related to lease accounting.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with key internal departments to ensure the accuracy of lease data, resolve discrepancies, and address any lease-related queries. Act as the primary liaison for any cross-departmental lease inquiries.
Process Improvement: Continuously assess and optimize lease accounting processes, identifying areas for improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and maintain strict compliance with accounting standards.
Management of a regional accounting team based in LabCorp’s EU Center responsible for recruitment, training, development, employee engagement, objective setting and completion of midyear and annual reviews
Lead, support, coach, develop an engage team of analysts, ensuring the key deliverables are completed on time with high quality
Monitor and act upon respective KPIs
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
5+ years accounting, experience in Global Business Services Centers or multinational companies
2+ years of supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) and advanced Accounting degree preferred
Advanced knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 842 Leases preferred
Skills and Competencies:
Adhere to a pro-active approach, with the ability to solve problems and interact professionally with internal and external clients in order to meet critical needs in an effective and timely manner
Demonstrate ability to plan, multi-task and prioritize
Proficient in Excel
Previous experience with ERP system (PeopleSoft or Oracle Fusion preferred)
Proven track for improvements in processes or control environment
Strong stakeholder management skills
Working Conditions:
Work in a hybrid mode, sharing time between office and home work
Ability to travel internationally (limited occasions)
