Responsibilities
+ Handle the leave of absence administration process from the employee’s initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA/State Leave-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
+ Communicate with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
+ Maintain reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work, and relays communication between employees and their managers as applicable.
+ Advise managers and employees on the interaction of FMLA, disability, paid leave laws, etc. with paid time off benefits.
+ Oversee the return-to-work process.
+ Work with employees, managers, accounting, and payroll to ensure proper timesheet codes are utilized for paid or unpaid leaves, and employees receive applicable pay.
+ Facilitate leave requests which may include accommodation requests under the ADA.
+ Maintain complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
+ Preserve confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
+ Maintain knowledge of current, new and changing leave and accommodation policies and laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, related field, or equivalent experience.
+ 5+ years in Human Resources
+ 2-4+ years of Leave of Absence experience.
+ SHRM-Certified Professional preferred.
+ Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
