The College of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ( UTRGV ) invites applications for a non-tenure-track Lecturer position in the Department of Computer Science to begin in the fall of 2025. Position tasks include teaching undergraduate (and possibly graduate) courses in computer science, mentoring and advising students, and departmental service. The position is a 3-year appointment, renewable based on favorable annual evaluations and budget availability. UTRGV faculty are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success, contribute to the advancement of the university, college, and program missions, and promote access to postsecondary education for a diverse student body at UTRGV , a leading Hispanic-Serving Institution and emerging research university.
The Department of Computer Science currently has twenty faculty members and offers an ABET -accredited Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a Master of Science in Computer Science, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science with interdisciplinary applications. The Department offers a range of research opportunities in theoretical foundations, machine learning, AI, robotics, security, bioinformatics, data mining, image processing and computer vision. Minimum Qualifications
Master’s in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited university. Women, minorities, veterans, and individuals with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
The successful candidate is expected to be passionate about bringing their expertise into the classroom, mentoring students, and able to teach a wide range of computer science courses at the undergraduate and possibly graduate levels. They should have a strong commitment to teaching, developing creative and effective pedagogy, and advising students.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas ( TRS ), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program ( ORP ) instead of TRS , subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
