This is a full-time salaried position with benefits package. The initial contract will be for the Spring term of 2025. This position is eligible for renewal thereafter, on an annual (9 months) basis.
The primary duty for this position is instruction of introductory physics courses, including college physics for science majors and conceptual physics. The teaching load is (4/4), i.e. four courses for each of the fall and spring terms. Some portion of assigned courses could be online, and management of an associated 1-credit-hour lab is additionally required in each such cases.
Cooperation with the faculty and other lecturers regarding coordination and improvement of the curriculum is expected.
This position will be based at the main SHSU campus in Huntsville, Texas. Educational Requirements for the Position This position minimally requires a Master’s degree in Physics (PhD preferred) or a very closely related field. Experience Required for the Position Candidates are expected to demonstrate subject mastery, effective communication (including the simple and intuitive exposition of conceptually or quantitatively challenging material), and a commitment to successful student learning outcomes.
Teaching experience is greatly valued in the selection process, as is experience in active learning techniques and the capacity to teach in various modalities, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid. Experience or scholarly work in the field of physics education is likewise valued, but not required.
