Legal Affairs Associate

Join MAPEI Corporation, a global leader in the manufacturing of construction chemicals and building materials, including adhesives, sealants, and specialty products used in flooring, tile, and concrete restoration. 

As a Legal Affairs Associate, you will be a key member of our in-house legal team, providing essential legal support to our manufacturing operations. This role involves drafting and negotiating contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting legal research, and assisting with corporate governance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate legal risks while enabling business objectives. With a focus on providing timely and practical legal advice, this position plays a vital role in safeguarding MAPEI’s operations and supporting its growth in a fast-paced, industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide legal counsel and support on a variety of corporate matters, including contracts, regulatory compliance, and general business operations. Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements such as supply contracts, vendor agreements, and service agreements. Assist with ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including environmental, labor, and employment regulations. Conduct legal research and provide guidance on risk management and mitigation strategies. Support the resolution of disputes, including drafting correspondence and assisting with litigation management. Collaborate with external counsel as needed for specialized legal matters. Help draft and update company policies, procedures, and training materials to align with legal requirements. Provide guidance on intellectual property matters, including trademark and patent management. Assist with corporate governance tasks, such as maintaining corporate records and supporting board meetings. Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company and advise management accordingly. Ensure compliance with the Business Management System (BMS) and applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulatory requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active bar membership in good standing, preferably in the state where the role is based. 1–3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in corporate or manufacturing environments. Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, corporate law, and regulatory compliance. Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams. Proficiency with legal research tools and software. Familiarity with intellectual property law and environmental regulations is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
