Job Description & Responsibilities
The candidate will join Blackstone’s Legal and Compliance department in Hong Kong and report to Managing Director, APAC Compliance, to support its businesses throughout the region. Blackstone has offices across Asia Pacific including: Hong Kong, Mumbai, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Shanghai, Seoul and Beijing. The work will be compliance related with a focus on Hong Kong regulatory matters. The candidate will also provide compliance support to activities throughout the region. The primary responsibilities will be:
Monitoring and advising on regulatory compliance matters for SFC licensed entity (Type 1 & 4).
Advising on entity and individual licensing and registration requirements, as well as other compliance-related matters for the business in Hong Kong.
Preparing license applications, conducting regulatory filings, and coordinating with local regulatory officials as necessary.
Handling day-to-day regulatory matters, including inquiries, surveys, and inspections.
Keeping abreast of regulatory changes throughout the region and advising on their impact on the business.
Developing and implementing policies, procedures, and controls in response to regulatory drivers and business changes.
Ensuring local employees’ adherence to Blackstone’s corporate governance and compliance policies and addressing their queries as needed.
Designing, coordinating, and conducting compliance training.
Developing, maintaining, and testing compliance processes to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and firm policies.
Preparing compliance reports for senior management, regulators, and other interested parties.
Coordinating with the business and other divisions across the firm on new initiatives.
Managing stakeholders across Blackstone’s global offices.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess:
Bachelor’s degree or above.
5+ years (AVP) / 8+ years (VP) of legal, compliance, or internal audit experience at asset managers or other financial institutions.
Knowledge and experience with SFC licensed entities is a plus.
Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese required.
Team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and excel under tight deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, drive consensus, and influence outcomes.
Strong analytical, issue-spotting, and problem-solving skills.
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workflow in a multi-responsibility environment.
Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with individuals at all levels, including senior management.
Highly proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
