Job Summary:
The Legal Coordinator, Filing & Formalities IP position is within the Intellectual Property Department at Gilead Sciences, reporting to the Filing & Formalities Manager. The IP prosecution team consists of 16 Attorneys and 9 Paralegals. This team comprises high-caliber, reputable, and highly hard-working IP professionals. They are integral to the company’s ability to continue providing therapies to medical areas of unmet needs worldwide.
Job Responsibilities:
Preparing Declarations, and Assignments for Filing and Formalities TeamAssisting the filing and formalities paralegal team in preparing Information Disclosure Statements (IDS)Obtaining signatures for Powers of Attorney, Declarations, and AssignmentsAssisting the filing and formalities paralegal team in preparing and recording Assignments in patent casesPreparing and sending order letters to foreign agents for foreign filingObtaining Authentication documents (such as certified copies) as necessary for filingAssisting the filing and formalities paralegal team with formatting patent applicationsArranging necessary translationsFiling electronic documents in the IManage legal document management systemNotarizationMinimum Qualifications:
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma, some college is preferred but not required, plus relevant administrative experience3+ years of prior industry or law firm experience as a paralegal preferredRelevant experience with patents or IP requiredSome foreign filing experienceKnowledge of filing in Patent CenterExperience with ePCTExcellent verbal and written English skillsNotary certification or willingness and ability to obtain Notary CommissionHigh proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and VisioExperience with IManage is preferred.Organizational skills, effective time management, and attention to detail are requiredCandidates must possess the ability to work well with others in a team setting
