Job Description

Procter & Gamble is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our Intelligence Hub in San Jose, Costa Rica. Established in 1999, the San Jose iHub has grown from a transactional service center into a critical Business Intelligence Hub powering key global business processes.

In this role, you’ll serve as the sole legal advisor in Costa Rica and act as a strategic partner to the site leader and the broader leadership team. You'll play a key role in supporting site stewardship, maintaining compliance, and protecting P&G’s strong reputation in the country.

We’re looking for a candidate with strong labor law expertise, sound business acumen, and strategic thinking who is eager to grow their scope and potentially expand regionally.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Counsel & Business Partnership:
Provide expert legal advice on labor and commercial matters. Act as a trusted advisor to HR, site leadership, and cross-functional partners, ensuring legal strategies align with business goals.

Trade Zone Compliance:
Advise and ensure compliance with the Costa Rica Free Trade Zone regulations. Monitor regulatory changes and manage related legal processes.

Leadership & Governance:
As a core member of the Site Leadership Team, collaborate on complex problem-solving, drive governance initiatives, and foster a strong culture of compliance.

Labor & Employment Law:

Draft, review, and manage employment contracts, labor agreements, and relevant documentation.

Guide policy development on topics like equality, harassment, and employee handbooks.

Provide real-time support for conflict resolution, mediation, and labor litigation (in collaboration with external counsel).

Conduct labor audits and support internal compliance reviews.

Deliver training on labor rights, compliance, and internal policies.

Regulatory Monitoring & Communication:
Stay current on local legal developments and communicate their impact clearly to stakeholders.

Supplier & Budget Oversight:
Ensure external legal providers follow internal billing and budget policies.

Job Qualifications

Top Requirements:

Labor Law & Commercial Expertise: Deep understanding of local labor regulations and relevant commercial law.

Strategic Business Partner: Ability to offer practical, business-savvy legal counsel aligned with organizational goals.

Independent & Confident: Self-directed and comfortable interacting with senior stakeholders.

Collaborative & Cross-Functional: Strong interpersonal skills to partner across HR, finance, compliance, and leadership teams.

Governance Leadership: Experience leading compliance and stewardship efforts with a proactive, open-minded mindset.

Additional Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum 3 years in labor law or related legal advisory roles in a corporate setting.

Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and verbal.

Leadership & Initiative: Demonstrated ability to lead projects independently, share best practices, and streamline legal processes.

Growth Mindset: Curious, solution-oriented, and adaptable, with a drive for continuous learning.

Education: Law degree from an accredited institution. Certifications in labor law or compliance are a plus.
