Summary/Objective
Paymentus (NYSE: PAY), a leading provider of electronic payment solutions, is seeking a Legal Counsel to partner with a fast moving, dynamic Sales and partnering team, and other business teams to grow the business. If you have commercial legal experience with licensing SaaS services or partnering agreements, particularly in Fintech, this will be an opportunity to join a fast-growing leader in the rapidly changing world of electronic payments. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work collaboratively with the business teams while maintaining compliance with company policies and operational capabilities. Top candidates will have the judgment and skills to work internally and with clients to resolve issues and will know when to escalate decisions. FinTech, financial services and payments industry experience will work to your advantage, but are not required.
Essential Functions Perform contract negotiations with internal teams and with our clients, potential clients and potential partners, and support leadership during negotiations. Support internal stakeholder discussion to facilitate deal decision and strategy. Assess and mitigate contract risks during all phases of contract negotiation through consultation with stakeholders and business teams. Utilize sound judgment and discretion in identifying key contract terms and issues that require escalation. Develop and propose creative solutions to contract issues. Ensure all necessary escalations and internal approvals from management have taken place. Provide revisions/responses for contracts during the negotiation process. Review and analyze client RFPs and contractual templates in support of Paymentus’ business. Free-hand drafting and reviewing of various documents including, but not limited to contracts, letters, client communications, non-disclosure agreements (NDA’s) and other miscellaneous legal documents. Experience working with transactions both on vendor forms (i.e., our forms) and on customer paper strongly preferred with a customer base ranging from very large to smaller businesses and government entities Communicate with business partners about daily transactional matters (i.e., contracts and negotiations). Review and negotiate vendor agreements Develop reference documentation and templates to address recurring issues to streamline the negotiating and contracting process. Legal ops and automation experience is helpful but not required As we broaden our partnership reach, legal experience supporting multi-party network ecosystems and related contracts will be highly relevant to this role as will experience supporting direct sales efforts Work on ad hoc legal projects, including but not limited to, new policies, templates and processes, disputes and other corporate legal and regulatory matters. Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TravelLittle to no travel is expected for this position.
Education and Experience 2-4 years of combined law firm or in-house experience within the SaaS technology industry is required Experience on the sell side is preferred. Experience with both direct sales models and network ecosystems is a strong plus. FinTech experience is strongly preferred. Payments experience would be an added bonus! Law degree from an accredited law school required. Admission to practice law in at least one state.
