What's The Opportunity: 
Reporting to the Direct, Operations Legal – Project Execution and Claims we are seeking a seasoned lawyer to join our team on a full-time basis. This individual will provide representation, guidance, and advise on Aecon's on-going projects. 
 

What You'll Do: 
Key Responsibilities

Provide advice on a range of contractual issues during project execution and post-execution phases. Identify potential risks associated with projects and develop strategies to mitigate those risks. Liaise between business unit / project leaders and external counsel on complex claims and litigation files. Liaise with joint venture legal committees. Actively manage and give instructions to external counsel on claims and litigation files.

 

What You Bring to The Team
Required Knowledge and Experience

Member in good standing with the Law Society in the jurisdiction of practice. Post-call legal experience: 5-10 years. Experience with complex commercial and/or construction-related litigation. Civil engineering background and/or fluency in French are assets, but not required. Construction and/or engineering industry experience, including with respect to contracts, are assets, but not required. Verbal reasoning skills, ability to interpret the precise meaning of written documents such as contracts, legislation, case decisions.
