Overview This is a hybrid role based out of Malvern, PA (3 days in office) CubeSmart is currently seeking a Legal Counsel to join our Legal team at our corporate office in Malvern, PA. The Legal Counsel delivers clear, practical and responsive legal support, advice and counsel to corporate departments on operational activities and other corporate compliance requirements. Responsibilities Counsels and delivers effective legal advice to the Company’s operational business units, particularly in the areas of self-storage lien laws, eminent domain, vehicle foreclosures, bankruptcy actions and other insurance-related claims including self-administered and subrogation claims. Reviews and manages various Company claims and litigation matters, including managing relationships with outside counsel, responding to discovery requests, and reviewing and revising all motions and briefs prepared by outside counsel; Reports claims to appropriate insurance carriers and administrators. Identifies and clarifies issues in contracts, real estate documents, leases, operating agreements, insurance policies and Customer disputes. Provides legal counsel and support to corporate departments including construction, accounting, and operations regarding the conduct of day-to-day activities, as well as the impact and interpretation of policies, procedures and regulatory matters. Monitors legislative and regulatory changes that may affect the Company’s business strategy. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Two to four years of law firm, pro bono, public service or related broad based legal experience. Candidates will be able to demonstrate: Developed knowledge of litigation practices and procedures in various court jurisdictions. Developed knowledge of the design and functional responsibilities of an organization, including corporate policy relating to acceptable business practices. Working knowledge of business dealings with leaders and standard accounting practices. High degree of initiative and independent judgment. Ability to communicate with Teammates at all levels of the Company. High degree of self-confidence with strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines. Ability to interpret and explain complex instructions. Highly detail oriented and organized.
