Role description:
Arcadis is looking for Legal Counsel to act as Legal Advisor to the UK GBAs - support UK&I Legal Director, GBA Legal BPs, Litigation Business Partner and UK compliance Officer.
You will be closely working with these contacts:
UK&I Legal Director, GBA Legal Business Partners, Litigation Business Partner and Uk Compliance Officer – provision of information, support, co-ordinate and liaise GBA Management Teams including inter alia Business Area Directors and Director of Operations – provision of legal advice and information, coordinate and liaise in connection with tender boards and risk mitigation UK Head of Finance – provision of information in connection with claims provisions, and legal advice in connection with acquisitions, disposals and transfers of business Head of Procurement – provision of information and advice on insurance related matters and legal input to procurement processes Arcadis Corporate Insurance Manager – provision of information in connection with claims and litigation Partnership Secretary – provision of information and legal advice Sector Leaders and Heads of Enabling Functions – liaise, co-ordinate and provision of information and advice Business Unit Sales and Risk Teams Other teams as required to fulfil roleLocation: This role can be based in Bristol or London Office. It will be a Hybrid and requires at least 2 days working from the Office.
Role accountabilities:
Support UK&I Legal Director, GBA Legal Business Partners, Litigation Business Partner and Uk Compliance Officer : Developing and maintaining the UK legal framework Developing and implementing the legal and compliance strategy and priorities for the UK Region Preparation and updating reports to UK Leadership Team and Group Leadership Team with particular emphasis on litigation and claims, and associated matters Advising on contracts, tenders and law in particular public procurement and construction, infrastructure and engineering contracts Expertise in advising on specific contract suites including NEC, JCT, ICC etc Preparation and implementation of policies and processes as required from time to time to ensure the business is compliant with legislation and internal governance Advising on disputes as required in conjunction with the Litigation Business Partner insurers and local legal advisors to ensure that the best interests of the UK Region are served, and its insurance polices are not compromised or prejudiced Provision of advice on a range of matters including risk management, employment issues, systems, trade marks, debt collection, lease management and management of properties and other commercial matters for the UK Region Preparation and delivery of presentations/training modules to key stakeholders throughout the UK business on legal and risk issues likely to impact the business and establishing action plans focusing on vital opportunities to provide legal solutions that add value or mitigate risk Providing bidding support and reviewing of client contracts and negotiation of them through to closure Advice and assistance in governance and approval meetings Advising on governance arrangements in accordance with Arcadis policies and procedures from time to time in relation to authorities, approvals and signature Assisting in educating and guiding the wider business on playbooks, self help guides, updates in the law and relevant procedures and processes Coach, support and build capability in operational and senior managers, to manage the contractual process effectively Working on joint ventures, acquisitions and disposals including structuring due diligence, documentation and negotiations Assisting the UK&I Legal Director and Uk Compliance Officer as required in implementing and monitoring legal, compliance and governance issues Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by UK&I Legal DirectorQualifications & Experience:
Significant and demonstrated experience in leading complex transactions and/or disputes including major projects, construction, resources or engineering An excellent ability to demonstrate a commercial and cultural understanding and sensitivities of the business and its operations and translate this into practical processes and solutions that the business units can utilise Strong team player, adaptive and proactive attitude The ability to work alone and within a team A flexible attitude and a willingness to share knowledge and mentor junior members of legal team Ability to use initiative Ability to adapt in a changing environment Adaptable to work across sectors when required Experience of working within a global organisation; able to contribute and receive as part of a high performing, collaborative environment – capable of developing relationships across other relevant sectors of the business Ability to make sound judgements based on good insights and analytical rigor 2-3 years PQEThis role can be performed 4 days a week, but we prefer someone who can work 5 days/week.
