Legal Counsel – Emerging Businesses

About the opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as Legal Counsel for our Emerging Businesses Division. This includes our Telecoms, Electric Vehicle, Energy Broking, Insurance, Expense Management and Vehicle Leasing businesses.
You will be responsible for an interesting and wide variety of legal work, working as part of a closely knit team that reports into the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary alongside our Compliance and ESG teams. The team also provides support to our Fuel Card and Telematics business divisions and our central Group functions. The environment in which we work is fast-moving and commercial.
What you’ll be doing
Business Partnering:business partnering with the Emerging Businesses described above to understand their objectives and provide legal solutions that align with overall group and divisional goals; anddevelop speciality in-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory risks relevant to the Emerging Businesses and provide practical guidance and solutions to support the mitigation of those risks. Legal Advisory: provide tactical and strategic legal advice to the business on a wide range of legal issues, both across the Emerging Businesses and also to the wider Radius Group; reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, including customer terms and conditions, supplier contracts and reseller agreements; anddeveloping specialist, in-depth knowledge of the commercial issues and agreements relevant to the Emerging Businesses Division.Legal compliance:stay abreast of relevant laws and regulations affecting the Radius Group and, in particular, the Emerging Businesses and ensure compliance, working closely with our Compliance team; andconduct training sessions for employees to ensure wider awareness of legal risk and compliance.Litigation management:manage and oversee dispute resolution matters within the Emerging Businesses Division, working closely with external counsel when necessary; anddevelop and implement strategies, policies and procedures to minimise legal exposure and resolve disputes efficiently.Risk management:identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and propose and implement strategies to mitigate those risks; andwork collaboratively with internal stakeholders to implement risk management initiatives.
In addition to the above, undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
What we look for in you
UK qualified, with 5+ years PQE and a current practising certificate.Substantial commercial experience, preferably at least some of which has been gained in-house.Proven track record in providing pragmatic and business-focused legal advice to senior stakeholders.Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills.Experience in managing and overseeing dispute resolution matters.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ownership of projects and tasks through to completion. Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Given the nature of the Emerging Businesses Division, experience of regulation, especially in the financial services or telecoms sectors, would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.
