Legal Counsel - Ads, Marketing & Communications, APAC

The Opportunity

The Legal Team is seeking a talented, passionate and experienced lawyer to support our growing ads business and the wider marketing and communications functions in APAC. 

In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Ad Sales, Ad Tech, Product, Business & Legal Affairs, Marketing, and Communications, as well as cross-regionally with legal team colleagues.  Responsibilities include:  review and negotiate advertising related agreements, such as ad measurement and agency agreements; legal advice on ads policies; negotiation of commercial agreements for the marketing and comms teams, including agency, talent, and partnership agreements; creative campaign review and rights and risk assessment; strategize solutions for sticky legal challenges; prepare and conduct training to help increase legal acumen across our advertising, marketing, communications and publicity teams as needed; and serve as connective tissue with other regions in this function.

Requirements 

The successful candidate will have 8+ years of relevant experience as a lawyer working in advertising (including ad sales) within APAC. Entertainment and marketing experience is a plus.

Experience negotiating ad sales agreements is required

Ability to work autonomously and reliably within tight timeframes in a fast-paced, high-performance environment as part of a geographically wide-spread team 

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)

Strong analytical capabilities and ability to exercise sound judgment in the absence of perfect information with a strong commercial lens 

Proactively identify issues and problem-solve in a business-friendly and solutions-oriented manner

Ability to think strategically, commercially, and practically

Excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines

Proven ability to synthesize information and align efforts across different geographies and departments to achieve common goals

Adaptable work and communication style across cultures, able to bridge cultural differences

Fluency in English is required, proficiency in additional languages is a plus
