Legal Counsel - Market Intelligence
About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 11 About the Role: Legal Counsel The Team: The Legal Team provides day-to-day legal support for the various shared services within S&P as well as commercial legal support for S&P’s Market Intelligence (financial services) group. We are a highly trusted and dynamic team that works in close partnership with the business to help drive maximum results. Responsibilities and Impact: We are seeking a skilled and experienced commercial lawyer with a specialization in software and technology-related services. The ideal candidate will support our customers in managing corporate actions and will have a deep understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks surrounding technology solutions in the financial services sector. Key responsibilities include: Provide legal advice and support on software and technology-related services, particularly in relation to corporate actions. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to technology solutions. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including data protection and intellectual property laws. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, and compliance, to align legal strategies with business objectives. Stay updated on industry trends, legal developments, and regulatory changes that may impact software and technology services. Assist in dispute resolution and manage any legal issues that may arise in the course of business operations. What We’re Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications: You have excellent communication and drafting skills, are results-driven, eager to learn, and value making an impact to drive successful win-win negotiations in a collaborative work environment. Key Qualifications and Skills: 5+ years' experience as a practicing lawyer/legal counsel with commercial, contracts, contractual, and general legal experience from a law firm or in an in-house legal environment Experience in negotiating and drafting commercial and other business-to-business technology-related agreements, including subscription-based software licenses Knowledge of data and software licensing, intellectual property, and commercial contract law Fluent English Excellent written and verbal communications skills Additional Preferred Qualifications: Ability to anticipate problems and find creative solutions Proven ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage a variety of commercial transactions and special projects simultaneously Experience with engineering, technology, or financial companies is a plus Proactive, enthusiastic, self-motivated team player Strong organizational skills What’s In It For You?
