WHY BOX NEEDS YOU
The Box Legal team is looking for a legal counsel/a senior contracts legal manager to join the Commercial Legal group based in Japan, which provides legal support and counseling for all of Box Japan’s sales/partner/vendor legal matters and go-to-market activities including sales promotion, marketing, product support, incident response, etc. You'll report to the head of Japan Legal and as a legal advisor, your role will focus on supporting Box Japan’s growing business as well as drafting, negotiating, and closing various types of agreements with customers/prospects/partners/vendors. You will also provide critical legal support to key business stakeholders. WHAT YOU'LL DO
Draft, structure and negotiate agreements with customers, resellers, partners and vendors in Japan. Provide legal support for transactions with customers through Box resellers, engagement with vendors. Advise internal clients on legal risks and provide solutions when contracting with critical customers, partners and vendors Collaborate with business leaders on updates and revisions to programs and Box policies where needed Provide legal guidance for, and interpretation of, existing agreements. Maintain and update various legal templates including translation Plan and conduct legal training to the Japan go-to-market team, including new hires and refresher training Create and maintain contents for the department shared on Japan Portal (Legal Portal) Assist with contract management system administration, legal research, operational/export compliance Work on projects to drive improvements to the vendor review process and train business stakeholders on legal issuesWHO YOU ARE
Work experience in a law firm or the legal department of a commercial entity in Japan (3-5 years) Knowledge of Japanese law and some familiarity of Anglo-American law Knowledge of Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information, GDPR and/or US privacy legislation is preferable. Experience in reviewing commercial contracts (both in Japanese and English) Native level Japanese with the ability to communicate in English (business level) Legal educational background (law degree or law school graduate) is preferable Ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously and efficiently Ability to identify issues and propose realistic/practical solutions Ability to prioritize tasks, communicate with various stakeholders and get things done in timely manner Love to learn new technologies, tools and eager to grow continuouslyHead-over-heels about this role — but not sure you meet all the requirements?
