Requirements
The Georgetown University Center for Global Health Science and Security (GHSS) (http://ghss.georgetown.edu/) conducts original research that helps decision makers worldwide build sustainable capacities to prevent, detect, and respond to public health emergencies and provide policymakers, donors, and researchers with a high-quality evidence base to make decisions that promote health security.
The Legal Research Associate will assist with various legal research and logistic tasks to support the research portfolio of the Center for Global Health Science and Security. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
+ Work closely with Dr. Rebecca Katz, the Director of the Center for Global Health Science and Security, and Dr. Heather Swadley, Senior Legal Researcher.
+ Contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects relating to global health and health security.
+ Curate a database on the relevant law in their subject area, assisting Dr. Swadley with bespoke legal research projects.
Work Interactions
This individual will work primarily with and report to Dr. Katz, while working collaboratively with other members of the research center, including faculty and research and administrative staff.
Requirements and Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in a field such as government, pre-law, or similar
+ At least 2 years of applicable work experience
+ Ability to prioritize, focus, and achieve results in a fast paced and complex environment
+ Ability to initiate and complete tasks under tight deadlines and changing priorities, while maintaining attention to results and detail
+ Ability to professionally and effectively communicate and work others in order to achieve team goals
+ Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team
+ Communication skills (verbal & verbal), with database management, literature review, and online research skills
+ Experience in a Research Assistant role preferred
+ Candidates who have successfully completed Legal Writing & Research coursework preferred

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
