Description Our client, a prominent plaintiff-side personal injury law firm, is looking for a motivated Legal Secretary to join their team. The Legal Secretary will provide administrative support to attorneys and paralegals.
Responsibilities:
Drafting and sending out basic correspondence including letters, memos, and emails.
Requesting medical records as required for each case.
Tracking calendars and deadlines related to court dates, filings, and other important events.
Communicating with clients in a professional and courteous manner, responding to their inquiries, and providing them with updates on their cases.
Maintain and keep up to date with our case management systems, keeping items well-organized and easily accessible.
Uphold confidentiality of sensitive information while complying with all legal standards and protocols.
Utilize the New York State Courts Electronic Filing system (NYSCEF) to manage case filings and records.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience as a plaintiff personal injury legal assistant.
Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is imperative for the creation and management of documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
Experience with NYCAF e-filing system is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including professional phone etiquette.
Attention to detail and good organization skills - managing a myriad of tasks and deadlines without letting anything slip through the cracks.
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Requirements • Possess a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Legal Secretary role or similar capacity.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Legal Assistant duties.
• Experience in handling Personal Injury Plaintiffs' cases is essential.
• Must have a comprehensive understanding of e-Filing systems.
• Ability to draft legal documents, conduct legal research, and prepare case briefs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Proficiency in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Good interpersonal skills to interact with attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
• A high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Must have knowledge of legal terminology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must demonstrate high ethical standards and professionalism at all times.
