Legal Secretary
Description Our client, a prominent NYC insurance defense law firm, is seeking an experienced legal secretary to join their personal injury team. The ideal candidate will bring experience in managing discovery responses, drafting legal answers, organizing depositions, and handling a range of legal administrative duties. Efficiency, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are key aspects to excel in this role. Key Responsibilities: 1. Promptly and accurately prepare legal documents such as discovery responses, legal answers, etc. 2. Schedule and coordinate depositions, client meetings, court dates and deadlines. 3. Process medical authorizations in a timely manner. 4. Manage, organize, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems. 5. Handle a high volume of emails, ensuring necessary follow-up actions are taken. 6. Support the legal team with calendar management, meeting coordination, and general administrative tasks. 7. E-file documents with the court and have a clear understanding of court rules and filing procedures. 8. Collaborate with attorneys to manage cases and facilitate the accomplishment of team objectives. Requirements: 1. Proven experience as a legal secretary in personal injury cases. 2. Proficiency in e-filing with the court. 3. Excellent knowledge of legal procedures, terminologies, and documentation. 4. Hands-on experience in processing medical authorizations and preparing legal answers. 5. Strong organizational, administrative, and planning skills. 6. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Preferred Skills: 1. Familiarity with legal technology and computer databases. 2. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly MS Word, Outlook, and legal software applications. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role as a Legal Secretary • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat for document creation and editing • Strong skills in Calendar Management, ensuring efficient scheduling of appointments and meetings • Excellent Client Relations abilities, with proven experience in maintaining and fostering positive relationships • Ability to Draft Pleadings, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail • Knowledge of Legal Pleadings and the processes involved in their preparation • Experience in Preparing Pleadings, with an understanding of the legal requirements and standards • Familiarity with Discovery Requests, including the preparation and response processes • Experience with Discovery Responses, including the ability to manage and organize responses effectively Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
