Description
Our client, a highly regarded plaintiff-side personal injury law firm, is seeking a Legal Secretary to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with experience in personal injury law to contribute to a dynamic legal team.
Start Date: ASAP
Location: On-site, New York
Pay: $30+/hour
Duration: 1+ month (potential for long-term)
Key Responsibilities:
+ Draft and distribute professional correspondence, including letters, memos, and emails.
+ Coordinate the collection and organization of medical records for case preparation.
+ Manage and track court dates, filing deadlines, and other critical case-related milestones.
+ Professionally communicate with clients, addressing inquiries and providing regular case updates.
+ Maintain and update case management systems, ensuring data and files are well-organized and easily accessible.
+ Handle sensitive and confidential information while adhering to legal standards and privacy protocols.
+ Utilize the New York State Courts Electronic Filing system (NYSCEF) for case filings and document management.
Qualifications:
+ 3+ years of experience as a Legal Secretary in the plaintiff personal injury field.
+ Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite for document preparation and administrative tasks.
+ Experience with NYSCEF e-filing systems is a must.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone and email etiquette.
+ Exceptional attention to detail and organization, able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines seamlessly.
+ Commitment to professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
Requirements • Proficiency in Aderant software, enabling efficient management of legal processes.
• Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat to support document management and editing.
• Experience with Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS) for property registration tasks.
• Knowledge of Case Management Software to effectively oversee legal cases.
• Ability to use CompuLaw for managing deadlines and ensuring compliance.
• Skilled in executing billing functions accurately and promptly.
• Proven ability with briefing to effectively communicate case details to attorneys.
• Expertise in calendar management to organize and schedule appointments and deadlines.
• Strong client relations skills to build and maintain positive relationships.
• Knowledge of consumer electronics to support technology-related tasks and needs.
