Legislative Services Manager

Aplin is seeking a dedicated and experienced Legislative Services Manager to oversee legislative, regulatory, and governance functions for our client located in Campbell River. This role requires a strong understanding of legislative processes, policy development, and compliance management.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the administration and coordination of legislative services, including drafting, reviewing, and implementing policies and bylaws.
Ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation relevant to municipal or organizational governance.
Provide expert advice and support to senior leadership and council/board members on legislative matters.
Oversee records management and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for document retention and privacy.
Act as the primary liaison between the organization and external regulatory bodies or government agencies.
Coordinate and support public engagement initiatives related to legislative and governance matters.
Supervise and provide guidance to a team responsible for legislative services and records management.
Prepare reports, presentations, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders.
Monitor and analyze changes in legislation and regulations, ensuring proactive compliance and adaptation.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Law, Political Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in legislative services, municipal governance, or policy development. As well, Minimum 3 years in a Supervisor position.
Strong knowledge of legislative frameworks, municipal bylaws, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experience managing teams and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
Proficiency in records management systems and governance software.
Ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents.
