LGBTQ+ Career Development Position 2025-2026

The Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research, Medicine-Pediatrics Section, Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applications for a LGBTQ+ Healthcare Fellow position. This fellowship is designed to train future primary care physicians to be sensitive, comfortable, clinically knowledgeable and culturally competent in delivering healthcare to sexual and gender minority patient populations.

This one-year fellowship beginning July 1, 2025 is a junior academic appointment as a HS Clinical Instructor in both general primary care and LGBTQ+ subspecialty and specialty care. The fellow will have yearlong longitudinal clinical rotations in a variety of UCLA and affiliated clinical sites, with some flexibility in tailoring the experiences to the learning environment and career goals of the fellow.

These experiences include:
• Primary Care for MSM
• Primary Care for WSW
• Transgender Care and Hormone Management (Adults & Pediatrics)
• Urology, Gynecology and Gender-affirming Surgery including preop/postop care
• Hepatitis B & C
• HIV Treatment and Management
• High Resolution Anoscopy (HRA)
• Substance Use and Addiction Medicine
• Mental Health including LGBTQ+ Adolescents and Young Adults in Transition
• Mental Health in PLWH
• Behavioral health coursework and workshops spanning a variety of topics including human sexuality, bisexual identity, affirmative psychotherapy, and LGBTQ+ domestic violence.
• Asylum/Refugee LGBTQ+ Health
• Rural LGBTQ+ Health

Successful applicants are U.S. trained MDs and DOs with a strong interest in caring for LGBTQ+ communities and have completed or will be completing their residency training by June 30, 2025 in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics combined specialties. Applicants should also have a passion for leadership, teaching, research, and a motivation to expand the current landscape of LGBTQ+ health.

The posted UC salary scales [https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html] set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5. The salary for this position is $74,800 - $134,700. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan [https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf], which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
