This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City’s collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNITS 1, 3, 4 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Leads a team to foster a welcoming and responsive library environment, assessing information needs of service community and allocating resources to meet needs. Managing day-to-day operations, including scheduling, staffing service points, and reporting on facility needs. Supervising staff across all subordinate roles. Developing collection development, outreach, and programming goals for a library facility. Coordinating staff efforts to ensure institutional objectives are met. Developing and maintaining relationships with community stakeholders and related groups. Identifying and supporting underserved populations in service area. Training evaluating staff, cultivating staff skills, providing support, coaching and mentoring. Conducting performance improvement planning. Appropriately delegating responsibilities with an eye to developing staff as future leaders. Evaluating initiatives events, assigning resources where they are best utilized. Commitment to delivering exceptional public service. Collaborates effectively with administration to align customer service with systemwide priorities. Continuously developing skills through professional development. Other duties as assigned. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and the ability to effectively address the needs of staff and patrons. Additionally, the LIV position will work with colleagues across the district to align strategies and share programs, ensuring the library’s continued success.
LOCATION: Various locations within Districts 1-5
DAYS OFF: Two days off per week
SHIFT: May be required to work some evenings and weekends
HOURS: 37.5 hours per week to be scheduled during normal unit hours
