JOB SUMMARY
The Library Associate 2 is the entry-level role within the Library Associate job family. Under the direction of library management, this position performs a variety of moderately complex technical and paraprofessional tasks in support of daily operations at the Camarillo Library—primarily at the circulation desk. The Camarillo Library serves a diverse and active community, and this role is essential in helping patrons feel welcomed and supported. The Library Associate 2 provides friendly, reliable customer service, assists with library materials and technology, and helps maintain a well-organized, engaging, and community-centered library environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
Provides customer service by welcoming and registering patrons, issuing library cards, checking out materials and managing patron accountsAssists patrons with locating materials or the reference desk, using computers, or explaining procedures (checking out, logging onto the Internet, making copies, etc.)Checks in and processes library materials as necessaryAccepts and processes fines, fees, or other paymentsProvides information regarding programs, events, conference rooms, etc.Mails library materials as necessary for patron homebound programsShelves library materialsAddresses or escalates patron conduct or safety issues to appropriate managementFollow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.Other duties as assigned RequirementsAn individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education,
training and/or work experience required.
H.S. Diploma or GED requiredTwo years library experience preferredBasic knowledge of library systems and databases preferredAbility to work a regular schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings and weekendsExcellent customer service skillsKnowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteGood communication skills, both written and verbalEnglish/Spanish speaking is a plusRegular and reliable attendance is requiredPhysical Requirements
Must be able to frequently move from place to place within the location; file and retrieve books and other items on high shelves. Lift/push up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. of heavy boxes, books, and equipment; work in confined spaces; walk; bend; stoop; reach; and climb.Benefits
