Osceola Library System is looking for a part time 20 hours a week, Courier!
The Courier picks up, delivers, and routes all types of library materials and correspondence to and from designated branches of Osceola Library System and other locations as assigned. The Courier may also perform a variety of moderately complex technical and paraprofessional duties with library circulation, such as shelving books, answering patron questions, helping patrons on computers, etc. The Courier will have a professional appearance, a friendly manner, an ability to communicate clearly with staff at all levels and provide excellent customer service to library patrons. The Courier must be dependable and complete their route in a timely manner.

Provide excellent customer serviceDrive a company-owned vehicle in order to transport books and other library materials, inter-office correspondence, programming supplies, furniture, etc. to and from libraries within the Osceola Library System network.Assist in the sorting and routing of books and other library materialsLoad and unload the courier vanReport promptly any malfunctions with the company vehicle; schedule and deliver the van for regular maintenanceMaintain the exterior and interior of the company-owned vans so they are clean and professional in appearanceFuel company vehicleOperate and troubleshoot the library’s two remote lockersAssist patrons with locating materials, using computers, or explaining procedures (checking out, logging onto the Internet, making copies, etc.)Provide information regarding programs, events, conference rooms, etc.Accept and process library patron paymentsShelve library materialsAddress or escalate patron conduct or safety issues to appropriate managementKnow and understand the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement, and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library.Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron recordsOther duties as assigned RequirementsAn individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training, and/or work experience required.
H.S. Diploma or GEDValid driver's license and a clean driving recordExcellent communication skills - both verbal and writtenPrevious on-the-job driving/courier experience a plusPrior customer service experience or experience working with the publicPrevious library experience a plusDetail-orientedGood time-management skillsMust be able to work a flexible schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings, and weekendsBasic knowledge of library systems and databases preferredKnowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteMultilingual speaking a plusPhysical Requirements
Must be able to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasionally up to (50) pounds such as files, books, furniture, and other materialsAbility to climb in and out of the courier vanAbility to sit for long periods of timeThis is a part time 20 hours a week role
Pay rate: $14/hr
