Library Operations Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Osceola County Library System is looking for a Library Operations Manager! 

Primary responsibilities include monitoring day-to-day operations of all library functions to develop effective processes and procedures, creating and delivering professional development and training opportunities, and pursuing opportunities for new endeavors that will support our Strategic Plan and continuous improvement across the Library System. The Manager of Library Manager will prioritize customer service, staff competency, trends in Library services, communication, cultural understanding, community connections, and maximum efficiency in library workflow. 

This position will report to the Library Director.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  

Create and deliver staff development and training for all levels of Library staff. Seek out partnerships, products, and resources that support staff development and training. Keep statistics and provide reporting in both data and narrative. Partner with hiring managers to screen, interview, and hire new staff.Overseeing onboarding experience for new hires, liaising with Human Resources and hiring managers. Develop a new hire training regimen that incorporates all levels of training needs – from front-line customer service to technical education – using best practices and knowledge of learning styles.Enhance patron services by improving the user experience and meeting patron needs.Work across the Library System to develop, revise, and implement Library policies and guidelines. Stay up to date on the latest technology within library services that could impact overall library efficiency and user experience. Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the Library System.Liaison with vendors and LS&S and County departments to ensure operational knowledge is coordinated and communicated. Plan annual Staff Day in conjunction with Library management and staff.
Pursue various grants, projects, and partnerships that assist in improving Library operations. Collaborate with Library teams to ensure support for disaster recovery and emergency planning. Work as part of the Library administrative team, fulfilling the priorities of the Strategic Plan. Stay informed of community needs by engaging with the community to ensure Library offerings are relevant and responsive. May oversee staff as needed. Other duties as assigned. Requirements

An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.

Bachelor's degree required. ALA-accredited MLS or MLIS degree preferred. Open to candidates with a combination of relevant experience, educational background, and practical knowledge. Previous managerial and training experience required.Detail-oriented, organized, excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to multitask. Strong technology skills, including Office, online databases, Polaris ILS, Google Suite, and Library-specific technology. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a diversity of learning styles and personalities. Ability to work well independently or as a teamBilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. Flexible schedule to accommodate the training needs of staff across the Library System. 

 Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for long periods and maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.Occasionally lift, push/pull, and hold/carry items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, books, and other materials.
