Special Collections & Archives Associates support a variety of Special Collections tasks through the shelving and retrieval of materials, research and outreach assistance, data entry, scanning, library catalog maintenance, and archival finding aid creation. Student Associates get hands-on experience working with rare, fragile, and unique materials including archival and manuscript collections and rare books.

Essential functions: Retrieve, reshelve, shift, and track rare books and archival materials Process archival collections by organizing and rehousing materials and contributing to online finding aids Assist with general maintenance of rare book and archival collections by updating labels, inventories, and catalog records Scan materials for patron requests using high-resolution flatbed scanners Assist with research, preparation of exhibits, and social media outreach
