Summary :The Licensed Athletic Trainer function as a member of the clinics patient care team and is responsible for the preparation of new patients prior to their specialist visit. In conjunction with the provider during office visits, will provide injury prevention, treatment, and care planning for the orthopedic and sports medicine patient based on provider protocol.

Job Description:

Key Accountabilities

Gathers pertinent clinical patient information and documents to ensure accuracy of the patients’ medical record.

Coordinates care with the physician to provide education regarding injury prevention and treatment.

Consults with the physician to create the patients plan of care.

Acts as a scribe for the physician for each patient/physician experience to improve clinic/patient flow and efficiencies.

Preparation and/or assisting with in office procedures to provide optimal patient experience and quality care.

Casting and splinting; fits crutches, braces and other durable medical equipment to achieve best practice and highest quality patient outcomes.

Demonstrates professional and therapeutic relationships with patients, families, team members, and providers. Knowledge of state law and national regulations, athletic training guidelines as outlined by the National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC) and state of Wisconsin licensure, clinic policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory requirements are met.

Performs other clinical and administrative tasks that allow for effective use of resources to best serve the patient’s needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training

Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC)

Licensed Athletic Trainer by the State of Wisconsin.

American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)

Physical Demands

Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance

Category 1: Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. 

Occasional high noise level in work environment.

Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.

Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients.

Use of computers throughout work day

Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrist and fingers

Schedule: 4 variable days/week. 7:45am-4:30pm No weekends, No Holidays
